AS AN ART DIRECTOR, COPYWRITER, CREATIVE DIRECTOR, THEN BOARD DIRECTOR AND PARTNER, ANDY’S JOURNEY STEERED THROUGH TWO OF THE SOUTH COAST’S LARGEST FULL SERVICE ADVERTISING AND MARKETING AGENCIES.
NOW, A COUPLE OF DECADES LATER, SPITFIRE IS WHERE EVERYTHING CAME TOGETHER.
Andy worked on a wide range of both B2B and B2C accounts, including HSBC, Winterthur, Southampton Football Club, Stannah Stairlifts, Isle of Wight Tourist Board, Chubb Fire, Land of Leather and Bournemouth Airport. Andy’s versatility as a creative and his appreciation of the way everything fitted together to build the bigger picture opened the door to a new challenge.
The other side
In 2002 he moved over to the client side, to set up and manage a creative services department in a finance business. Loans.co.uk grew to a £60M+ turnover company, and a household name, all within 5 years. Its success attracted a buyer in the shape of Bank of America, who bought the business in 2007. High volume spends, particularly in DM, provided nuggets of information from a regime of monthly testing, and his appreciation of the way you do things in a results driven business further added to his broader understanding of marketing.
It was an incredibly rewarding journey, offering a wealth of learning and a realignment of what true client relationships are about.
Andy returned to agency life in 2008 when he co-founded Spitfire.
His continued pursuit of the big idea is central to his philosophy and work ethic, and his addiction to the creative process has earned recognition from clients, colleagues and award judges.
Whether he’s writing a video script, planning and directing a shoot, brainstorming a creative strategy or designing a logo, Andy really is in his element. His love of the creative industry is unreal.
