Seasoned and professional
Julian has over 25 years’ experience in marcomms, covering both agency and client side. A respected communications planner, his thoughtful and considered manner is combined with solid practical experience and a pragmatic approach.
Following an economics degree Julian started his career with a regional agency before moving to London to work with some of the most respected agencies of the 1980’s including Yellowhammer and DMB&B.
Agency to client
Just like his partners Andy and Tony, Julian moved to the client-side where he specialised in financial services for Royal Insurance Group, latterly managing corporate advertising through Saatchi & Saatchi.
Returning to the agency side, he joined a leading regional agency, becoming Managing Director in 1994.
In 1996, he was invited to join the board of an agency that, with his help, grew to become the largest in the South of England, and one of the largest integrated agencies in the UK.
With an MBA from Southampton Business School, Julian furthers his academic interests by acting as an external examiner on undergraduate marketing courses and by lecturing post graduate MA students in Advertising Management at the University of Southampton.
His combination of senior client, agency management and broad-based marcomms experience gives him a valuable perspective to offer Spitfire’s clients.
