Tradition and heritage in any business is often at odds with opportunity and progress. For Hamptworth Golf success relied on diversifying its offering and appealing to a wider audience, but one that was welcomed by traditionalists and loyal members too.
Replacing an owl logo that had outstayed its welcome, ‘Barny’ the barn owl was developed, creating a contemporary look for the brand with character, warmth and style.
A new website
A new website was introduced to showcase the Club’s wide range of benefits, and make it work harder off the page.
Spitfire’s web team worked with the client to create a highly visual front-end design, integrated within a specialist CMS that manages events, bookings and payments.
A different role
Barny works in other areas of the business too, like the Club’s restaurant. Simple changes and a contrasting colour palette made it possible to reinforce the brand with personality and appeal.

With a new brand identity, a digital presence that promotes the Club to a younger audience, plus ongoing creative support with photography and strategic thinking with each design brief, Hamptworth Golf has gained in popularity in the South. It’s not only well known as a great golf course, but its reputation is growing as a warm and friendly place to enjoy sport and leisure in the wider sense.
